Yokohama International School's Japanese Music Ensemble looks forward to joining violinist Pauline Kim Harris for a program featuring the US premiere of "Traitor" for bass koto and violin, composed by Reika Hattori. The concert, open to the public free of charge, will be held at Hunter College's Lang Hall from 7:30 pm on Friday October 30th. Traitor won first prize in the International Center for Japanese Culture's 21st Century Music Project Composition Competition this year. Other pieces featured on the program are "Koto2" (Kotokoto) - a 1990 minimalist work for 6 part koto ensemble by Hiroshi Yoshimura, the 17th century "Rokudan", "Fukei" - a groundbreaking work written in 1972 by Osamu Shimizu, one of the first Western trained Japanese composers to write for the koto, and "Haru no Shishu - Spring Rhapsody" written by Yutaka Makino in 1986.
